Official Blizzard Quote: " The beta test approaches! We’ve just updated our System Check program and would like everyone to update their Battle.net Beta Profile information by running the new one. You should do this regardless of whether there have been hardware changes made to your system.
You can run the new System Check by visiting the Beta Profile settings of your Battle.net account:
https://www.battle.n...ta-profile.html
I don’t have a Beta Profile
If you haven’t yet created a Beta Profile on your Battle.net account you’ll be presented with two download options, PC and Mac, for our System Check program. Running the program will present you with the Beta Test Opt-In Agreement, and once you agree to that it will immediately query basic computer specification information such as your type of video card, processor, and RAM. Clicking the Send button will then upload the shown information to your account.
On your Beta Profile page, you’ll want to ensure you at least have “Diablo Universe” checked for future testing, if not StarCraft and Warcraft as well. That’s it! You’re now eligible for future beta test opportunities.
I have a Beta Profile
If you’ve previously uploaded your system info you should use the links to download the new System Check program for PC or Mac and update your system info. Run the program, read through the Beta Test Opt-In Agreement that appears, and once you agree to that the program will immediately query your basic computer specification information. Click Send and the program will automatically update your profile with your system specifications. You’ll remain opted in for whichever beta tests you’ve previously selected, and you can change these selections on your Beta Profile page at any time.
Having current system specifications and checking the franchise boxes to express interest in beta testing our future products does not guarantee your entry into the beta test. We will grant a very limited number of people entry from the entire pool of those interested, based on their system specifications and other factors. While having an official Battle.net Beta Profile is one way to potentially get in, we’ll have information on other ways to increase your chances as we draw closer to the beta test."

Beta is closing in, and Bashiok has a tip on how to enter one of Blizzard's beta.
Bashiok
Right, so the most consistent method is going to be to opt-in through Battle.net.
There’s actually still a guide available for StarCraft II, and much of the info is still accurate for the process to opt-in for the Diablo III beta.
Aside from the normal opt-in there will undoubtedly be contests and promotions, such as the keys given away at BlizzCon. As we have info about additional ways you could potentially get a beta key we’ll of course let you know.
Also, there are literally dozens of ways to enter into the Beta, which will be available soon... gaming sites, fansites, merchandise partners, and pre-order deals. Stay tune.

The Diablo II B.net ladder reset was today, and after a false start for technical difficulties, the realms are back up and in their (momentarily) tabula rasa state. So get in there and enjoy making new characters in the fresh economy.
Bashiok posted a few updates on the process today:
Bashiok
The Ladder will be reset today, March 28. Previously announced to reset at approximately 9:00 a.m. PDT, it has been delayed until an anticipated 10:00 a.m. PDT*.10:00:19 AM PDT—The reset is beginning now.
10:22:40 AM PDT—The reset is expected to conclude by 11:00 a.m. PDT.
11:54:47 AM PDT—We’re aware the ladders are not properly reset and some characters made immediately after the realms came live are unable to create games. We’re investigating these issues and will offer an update as soon as we have additional info.
11:55:40 AM PDT—Realms are coming back down to address these issues.
12:57:37 PM PDT—Reset has completed and realms are on their way back up.

Developers talk about the possibility of sperate section to balance PvE and PvP. Let's not waste time to talk about balancing a game we've not played yet. Time for Beta. Let the gamers do the talking!
Bashiok
On the note of balancing PvE and PvP separately you guys talked about a little bit, it’s something we want to largely avoid. I’m actually sort of confused where that info came from (I know you guys didn’t just make it up I’ve seen it elsewhere). Somehow I feel like it’s my fault, but maybe it was talked about at BlizzCon. We do have the ability to keep separate functionality, but we want to try to avoid big differences that make it feel like two different games when you play PvE and PvP.
One area where things work differently, and we think it’s ok, is in the case of CC, like stuns, snares, slows, etc. The duration of these skills is fairly significantly reduced when used against players, however, that same reduction in effectiveness is also see in the PvE game when it comes to unique/champion/boss monsters. So, it’s not only a jarring difference, it’s also actually experienced in PvE.
Bottom line is we’ll have to wait and see but, as I said, it’s something we have the ability to do if needed but would prefer to largely avoid. I just didn’t want anyone to think that we’re actively balancing them completely independently as that’s not accurate....Ah, yes, it’s the first question that was asked at the open Q&A. Well that was easy to find!
So, yeah he’s specifically stating we don’t want to impact PvE by balancing PvP. That doesn’t necessarily mean that they have to be designed completely independently or each other, though. I don’t know, it’s one of those things we’ll have to wait and see how it pans out in more serious balance testing closer to release.
Jay Wilson
[...] Speaking of PvP, one of our goals was to make sure that the PvP has no effect on the balance in PvE. It’s why we have the Arena. We’ll never nerf a PvE skill for PvP.
